Growing up in both Oregon and Montana, Rocky Montgomery spent many of his early years helping to raise his younger brother and sister. “I ran away at 14 and was pretty much self sufficient from there,” says Montgomery. After moving to Portland at the age of 19, he began to establish a more open identity and developed an appreciation for very crass and comical art.

“I met up with Sissyboy when I was 21...I was really blown away by Jeffrey's Bjork routine and thought [to myself] ‘I love theater and acting and costumes and makeup’.” Shortly thereafter, Montgomery was invited to a Sissyboy rehearsal and felt right at home. “I really started to blossom then, and I was finding my own identity and realizing a sense of responsibility for myself and who I wanted to be”.

Montgomery says “I really learned a lot about myself and spent my college years being weird and doing Sissyboy”. Now I'm doing all the things I love like working as little as possible, making art, being in the woods and traveling, hanging out with my dog and indulging only in the most glamorous of sins. I want to write and maybe direct someday but I see more of a future for me in music”.
