Katie Turinski first fell in love with documentary filmmaking in high school. Ten years later, at 28, Turinski has continued to feed that passion and her first feature-length documentary “Sissyboy” is the fruit of two years of her labor.

Despite its long-lasting effects, filmmaking was not Turinski’s first love. An artist from the time she could hold a paintbrush, Turinski grew up with dreams of becoming a painter. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2003, but quickly found herself at home in the professional post-production world. Turinski is currently working as a commercial editor for an advertising agency, and has most recently held an Editor credit on the award-winning documentary “Raw Faith” (www.rawfaith.com).
